Troubleshooting

Quick answers to the things that most often go sideways, roughly in the order you might meet them.

Doppio doesn't appear under Extensions in Slides

If you installed the add-on but Extensions → Doppio is missing, refresh the deck's browser tab first: Slides only picks up new add-ons on load. If it's still missing and you're in a work or school Google account, your organisation likely restricts add-ons. An admin needs to approve Doppio once in the Google Workspace Marketplace, and then it's available for everyone.

The sidebar says the extension isn't connected

Saving, suspending, and deleting polls all go through the Chrome extension, so the sidebar needs it installed, signed in, and awake. Check that the Doppio icon is in your Chrome toolbar and that you're signed in with the same Google account you're using in Slides. Two different accounts is the classic culprit.

I deleted the chart from my slide

Deleting the chart image doesn't delete the poll, so your audience would still be asked to vote on a slide showing no chart. The sidebar warns you when this happens and offers two ways out:

• Re-add chart puts the preview back on the slide. Everything carries on as normal.
• Suspend poll keeps the poll and its settings but hides it from your audience entirely. The slide behaves like any other non-poll slide until you hit Resume poll.

Suspending is also handy on its own: it's a reversible way to bench a poll for one run without rebuilding it later.

My audience is stuck on a waiting screen

The waiting screen means Doppio can find your event but no session is live: you haven't pressed Start Presentation yet, or you pressed Stop already. The screen waits for two minutes before asking people to try again, so start your session shortly before inviting the scan. Anyone who times out just scans or types the code again.

Phones stopped following my slides

The extension checks in with Doppio while you present. If your laptop sleeps or drops offline for around ten minutes, Doppio treats the show as over and stops admitting newcomers; already-connected phones stay connected. Present from a machine that stays awake and online. If you did lose the room, press Stop Presentation and then Start Presentation again, and the audience rejoins with the same code.

Someone can't join

• Check the code. It's the 5-digit code from the sidebar, typed at doppio.us.
• Check a session is running. Joining only completes while you're presenting.
• Check connectivity. Ask the participant to refresh the page and rejoin using the current code. Live audience size is unlimited on every plan, so a larger audience does not require an upgrade. See Plans & limits.

A session is missing from my dashboard

Check that you are signed in to the dashboard with the same Google account you used to create the event, or an account that has been given event access. Open the correct event and refresh the page. Active sessions can appear with a Live badge; you do not have to stop presenting to view them.

When the presentation is finished, use Stop Presentation in the extension to close the session and finalise its results. If the results page reports a lost connection, its totals may be out of date.

Votes seem off

• Each participant gets one vote per poll unless you raised Max votes in Voting.
• Vote submissions are rate limited, so rapid-fire tapping doesn't stuff the ballot.
• Check Flow. Results may be waiting for the timer, for you to click the voting dialog, or for a separate results slide. See reveal settings.

An edit has not saved

The first poll or timer needs its Save poll or Save timer action. Subsequent edits save automatically. Takeaways and results slides retain their explicit Save buttons.

If you see Not saved, check the connection and any validation message. Correct the content before continuing. For a poll autosave error, the next edit retries the save; dismissing a message alone does not save the changes. Wait for saving and preview updates to finish before moving on.

If adding or selecting another slide takes you back to the previous one just after a save, allow the previous item to finish updating, then select the new slide again. Check the sidebar's question or item before editing.

The sidebar shows another presenter's lock

Another user is presenting this event. Editing and starting another presentation are unavailable until they stop. Ask them to finish with Stop Presentation.

A colleague can open the deck but cannot use the event

Google Slides file access and Doppio event access are separate. The event owner must share the Doppio event with the colleague's Google email address as well as sharing the deck.

A results slide is empty or shows the wrong question

Check Currently showing results for in the results editor. Select the intended source and click Save results slide. If the slide comes before the question in your running order, there may not be any votes yet. See Results from another poll.

A timer is not counting down

A timer waits for your tap unless Start automatically on this slide is enabled. While presenting, tap it to start or resume. Hiding on-slide hints only removes the prompts; it does not remove the controls. The editor preview is for preparing the timer, not running an audience activity.
